- Annual Pastor’s Conference
A team of American pastors and support staff traveled to Haiti in early March to serve at our 3-day annual pastors conference. We had a great turnout each day with over 100 Haitian pastors in attendance! This year our U.S. hosting pastors preached through The Lord’s Prayer.
Following the message each day, the pastors were divided into small groups for further breakout discussions.
2. Fontana Partnership
We are excited to announce an agreement with Fontana Children’s Home located next door to Alex’s House! God has opened the door for a unique opportunity to love our neighbors and share the gospel. Fontana is home to 42 children of all ages.
Their property houses a nice church building that we used for an archery event on March 26, 2020, as a way to get to know the kids. We held the first church service on March 29, 2020, led by Pastor Dorcean. In an attempt to limit social contact, we did not open the first worship service up to the outside community.
We look forward to having the opportunity to establish a church family right in our own backyard!
3. Feeding Program Continues
Even though the schools are closed in Haiti, we can continue the feeding programs because of your faithful monthly sponsorships. We have been very careful to follow CDC recommendations by enforcing proper social distancing and disinfecting between the groups being served meals. In addition, the children are being monitored for fever as they show up to eat.
4. The Elliot House
We are grateful to Tommy and Susan Elliott for their generous donation for “The Elliott House.” This home houses our older boys and gives them the opportunity to learn life skills and self-independence as they complete their education. Susan and Tommy own Elite Signs in Greer, SC, and are long time friends of Bill and Jennifer Howard.
5. Business Training
March was a big month for business training, wrapping up in Cadanette and Trouforban. The women are being taught business essentials such as calculating overhead costs and bookkeeping methods for inventory bought and sold. Plans are being made to include their husbands in this same training to ensure successful business outcomes.
