Shersty’s heart has been captivated by God’s work in Haiti since her first trip to Alex’s House in 2012. After interning with Disciples’ Village for two summers, in 2017 she moved to Haiti to join the DV team as a journeyman focusing on business training, microfinance, and job creation. Two years later, God laid on Shersty’s heart to become the mentor of our Alex’s House girls’ transition home and to shepherd them in loving the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength and to love their neighbors as themselves—to make disciples who make disciples. In a more holistic and eternal approach to microfinance, she too focuses on the discipleship and advancement of women in Disciples’ Village’s partnering churches. When she’s not troubleshooting with someone about their business or facilitating a job creation/training project, you can find Shersty drinking strong Haitian coffee, roaming around the local open-air food markets, and loving on a growing brood of precious Haitian godchildren.
