Hope and a Future

“For I know the plans I have for you”, declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future”.   -Jeremiah 29:11

Supporting Our Young Adults’ Path to

 Independence

One of the greatest joys at Disciples’ Village is watching our young people grow into young adults who are ready to build lives of their own. We want each of them to leave our care with an education, practical skills, and the tools they need to support themselves.

Recently, four of the young men from Alex’s House, Wilkens, Renel, Louis Pierre, and Mickey, completed their schooling and moved out to begin living independently. We are proud of them as they take this important next step.

In 2027, four young women, Lourde Djennie, Daïcasseline, Nadege and Carline, are expected to follow after completing their trade school training. They, too, are preparing to move into independent living and begin the next chapter of their lives.

But completing school is only part of the journey. Starting an independent life also requires practical resources and a little help getting established. Through our transition program, we want to provide each of these eight young adults with a one-time investment of $1,000 and $200 per month in ongoing support.

These one-time investments, which we call “toolboxes,” can include a sewing machine, a motorbike, or other equipment that helps a young person start a small business, earn an income, and become financially independent. The monthly support helps them meet basic needs as they establish themselves.

Our goal is to raise $27,200 to help eight young adults take this important step toward independence.

We have walked alongside them through many years of growing up, learning, and preparing for adulthood. Now we have the privilege of helping them spread their wings.

Will you help us give these young adults the tools and support they need to build a future of their own?

Stherline’s Journey to Medical School

Every young person deserves the opportunity to pursue their dreams, develop their gifts, and build a future that makes a difference in the lives of others.

For Stherline, that dream is to become a doctor.

Having grown up as part of the Alex’s House family, Stherline has taken an important step toward that future. She has moved to Port-au-Prince to study medicine, beginning a demanding journey that will require years of dedication, hard work, and financial support.

We are proud of her as she pursues this goal. But medical school brings significant expenses, including tuition, books, and rent. We want to help Stherline focus on her education without having to face these financial challenges alone.

Our goal is to raise $32,000 to cover four years of medical studies and living expenses, including $2,000 tuition for medical school and $2,000 for housing annually, and $200 per month in ongoing support.

Your generosity will help Stherline continue her education and take another step toward becoming the doctor she hopes to be. Her journey is also a reminder of why we invest in young people: when they have access to education and the support they need, they can open doors to opportunities that once seemed out of reach.

At Disciples’ Village, we believe that education can change the course of a life. Thank you for being part of Stherline’s journey and helping her build a future filled with purpose and possibility.

Supporting Displaced Families from Trouforban

When violence forces families to flee their homes, they can lose almost everything overnight. Finding a safe place to stay, putting food on the table, and beginning again become daily challenges. Yet even in the most difficult circumstances, we trust in God’s promise of a hope and a future.

The village of Trouforban was taken over by gangs, forcing families to flee and seek safety elsewhere. We want to help the pastor who serves this community care for the families who have been displaced.

Through Disciples’ Village, we are raising $15,000 for emergency assistance to help these families meet their most urgent needs as they rebuild their lives. Your gift can help provide practical support when people have lost their homes, their belongings, and the security of the community they once knew.

We cannot take away all the uncertainty these families face, but together, we can help them find safety and begin again. Your generosity is a way of putting God’s love into action, standing alongside those who are suffering, and reminding them that they have not been forgotten.

Will you help us bring hope to families from Trouforban as they work toward a safer and more stable future?

A Safe Home for Alex’s House

A safe home is about so much more than four walls and a roof. It is a place where young people can sleep peacefully, focus on their education, build friendships, and know that someone is looking out for them.

For the young people of Alex’s House, that stability is something we never take for granted. Before they joined our family, many of them became orphaned at a young age, or experienced the uncertainty of losing their home. Through it all, we have worked to provide a safe and caring environment where they can grow, study, and prepare for independent lives.

As some of our older students graduate and move out on their own, our Alex’s House cottages continue to provide a home for those still completing their education and preparing for the future.

Our goal is to raise $22,000 to cover the annual rent for our three cottages. This funding is essential to keeping our homes open and ensuring that the young people in our care have a stable place to live.

Your donation helps provide more than shelter. It gives our young people the security to concentrate on their education, the freedom to plan for their future, and the reassurance that they belong to a caring community.

Together, we can continue providing a place where young people are safe, supported, and encouraged to become all that God created them to be.

Thank you for helping us keep Alex’s House a home filled with love, security, and hope for the future.

Christmas Bonuses for the Alex’s House Staff

At the heart of Alex’s House are the people who show up day after day to care for our young people. Their work goes far beyond meeting daily needs. They offer guidance, encouragement, and the steady support that helps our young people grow, complete their education, and prepare for independent lives.

This Christmas, we want to recognize the dedication of our Alex’s House staff by providing Christmas bonuses. Throughout the year, they give their time and energy to create a safe, caring home where our young people can not only survive, but thrive under their love and leadership.

Our goal is to raise $4,500 to provide these bonuses as a tangible expression of our gratitude. It is one way we can say thank you for their commitment and for the important role they play in the lives of the young people entrusted to our care.

As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, we are reminded that God’s love is often expressed through the people who serve others faithfully, day after day. We want our staff to know that their work matters and that they are appreciated.

Will you help us bless the Alex’s House team this Christmas?
